Partnering on a Regenerative Journey: How a Pioneering Beauty Brand is Deepening its Impact.

How can a brand that has led the industry in sustainable sourcing for two decades have an even greater impact?

This question has guided our work with evanhealy, a pioneering beauty brand that has embodied its values—from product formulation to ingredient sourcing—since day one. While we don’t have all the answers, we’ve uncovered valuable lessons and are excited to continue this regenerative journey. In this piece, we’ll share our process, highlight what worked, discuss the challenges, and outline where we are headed next.

A shared vision for regeneration

We first met David Gordon, co-founder and CEO of evanhealy, through our friends at AmpliFi Capital. Immediately, it was clear we shared a passion for using ingredient sourcing to forge a positive relationship with our global ecosystem, while creating products that consumers love.

For years—long before it was more mainstream—evanhealy has partnered directly with stewards of these ecosystems for its most essential ingredients. Yet, for any company already far along this path, there remains a rapidly evolving social, environmental, and consumer landscape, where a need for continuous innovation exists.

Our work together

Our collaboration began with a deep dive into the company as a whole: its business model, its team, and its community of ecosystem stewards. Typically, we help brands clarify how direct sourcing can improve sales, lower costs (including COGS), and strengthen brand positioning. In evanhealy’s case, much of that groundwork was already in place. Instead, we focused on how evanhealy could engage with industry-wide change and further expand its network of stewards.

The power of regenerative certification

Since its founding, evanhealy has understood that the provenance of their ingredients is vital to product efficacy, and that connecting soil to shelf requires curation and partnership.  The brand has always prioritized organic certification, and together we explored how regenerative certification could take these values further. By helping ecosystem stewards obtain regenerative certification, evanhealy can improve markets and margins for its partners, while also contributing to a larger industry conversation:

How do we use farming practices to heal our planet and produce more nutritious foods and ingredients?

Of course, coming up with a transformative idea is only part of the journey—real success depends on execution. Agricultural and CPG timelines rarely overlap neatly, so we co-developed a plan that incorporates short-term wins alongside the long-term work of regenerative transitions. As an early step, we helped evanhealy secure a new supplier of organic, regenerative-certified shea butter. This move will allow the first regenerative-certified evanhealy products to reach store shelves within a year.

On a broader level, we connected evanhealy to the Sustainable Herbs Initiative, an organization uniting the herbal sector around shared goals for industry-wide improvement.  Through this network evenhealy met Oshalla Farms in Oregon to source regenerative organic herbs, building on the brand’s existing relationship with Frantoio Grove in California to source regenerative organic olive leaf. These steps deepen evanhealy’s regenerative footprint and diversify its network of ecosystem stewards.

Each of these short-term actions tied to specific product launches has helped build momentum. evanhealy quickly communicated these developments to its board, brokers, and retail partners, rallying support for the brand’s regenerative future. At the same time, the company is helping its existing ecosystem stewards embark on or advance their own regenerative paths.  

What’s up next

Next year, evanhealy’s network of suppliers in the Willamette Valley will pursue regenerative certification with the brand’s support. To continue fostering collective innovation, evanhealy is convening a summer gathering in the Willamette Valley where stakeholders and stewards can share insights, explore opportunities, and strengthen their efforts toward regenerative growth.  Balancing immediate process and product needs with long-term transformation has been crucial to sustaining momentum on evanhealy’s  regenerative journey and ensuring support from its entire community of partners.
